Tip 1: Roof Inspection
Hurricane season is upon us, so you’ll do your home a favor by looking for damaged shingles and leaks. If you can access your attic, check the underneath of your roof during or just after a rainstorm – the signs will be more prominent. Sweep away leaves and clear your gutters of debris. Call for repairs if needed.

Tip 2: Service Heating and Cooling System
You might start to find yourself reaching for the AC thermostat less and less. And before you know it, you’ll need your heating system (sad, but true). So call your HVAC professional and here’s what they can do:

  • Test safety controls to prevent fires
  • Test the furnace burner and thermostat
  • Clean the blower and motor
  • Check your ductwork for leaks

Tip 3:  Inspect The Chimney & Fireplace
Chilly nights are on the way! Make sure the chimney sweep is certified by the Chimney Safety Institute of America. Fireplace inspections should be done every year. You always want to repair and clean if needed. In general, chimneys should be cleaned when the creosote buildup reaches ¼” minimum.

Tip 4: Replace & Seal Windows
The keep the warm air inside your home, you’ll need your windows to be tight and secured. Whether you have cracks in your windows or your need new weatherstripping/caulking, all of these are a necessity as fall arrives.
