From fingerprints to stains, keeping glass features in your home spotless can seem impossible. The truth is, keeping glass streak-free is all about having the right materials and a little elbow grease! Here are tips for how to clean all types of glass in your home:
Shower
Keeping shower doors clean can be tricky, but you don’t need to use harsh chemicals. When you opt to use harsh chemicals, not only are you diminishing the air quality in your home, but you’re also harming materials that are around the glass, too. Instead of using bleach and ammonia, create a paste using a mixture of baking soda and water — which is just as strong. Rub the paste on your shower doors with a gentle sponge and then rinse with vinegar.
Mirrors
The secret to a streak-free mirror is this: place rubbing alcohol on a cotton pad and glance your eyes across the mirror for splatters (toothpaste, hairspray – you name it). Rub the stains away. Be sure to work quickly, as alcohol dries fast! Spray the mirror with your favorite glass cleaner, fold a microfiber cloth into quarters and start at the top left corner. Drag the cloth across the top of the corner and swoop down and back towards the left side of the mirror, creating a zigzag motion.
Windows
Rubbing windows down with a cleaner isn’t the best idea since it could make them quite streaky in the process. As soon as you do, you also create a strong static charge — which attracts dust and dirt. The result? They start to look dirty again, and quicker than you’d hope. Solution? Instead, use a squeegee. Move in long, steady strokes, leaking your windows streak and dust free!
Table Tops
A mistake people often make while cleaning their glass table tops is leaving things on top of the table. First, clear everything off to prevent dust from moving from one spot to another. Next, wipe down with a dry cloth and spray water or a glass cleaner on top (a light spritz is all you need). Wipe the table dry with a clean cloth.
